I am a Compassion blogger.

We are experiencing hardships, yes. Some of them dire. Some of them heartbreaking. But for those of us in the western world, we have resources. Your resource might be county or state help, and yes it’s confusing and frustrating, but what if it wasn’t available? What if there was no federal government sending stimulus checks?

Let’s visit third world countries where poverty is a matter of living on $50 a month – or less. Where schools cost money. Healthcare is not free for the poorest of the poor. Landlords are not constrained by a ‘no eviction’ policy. Food is harder to come by, than it is here, if they could afford it.

I sponsor a boy in Tanzania, and I have for 10 years. He became a part of my life when he was six years old. He’s gone to school every year, and received medical care and food. He’s heard the good news about Jesus Christ and he loves the Lord. Every letter I receive from him, he tells me that he is praying for me!

The pandemic has shut down all Compassion centers worldwide. Children are not receiving daily meals, medical care, or schooling. Most,  if not all, live with no electricity or internet, they have no access to Zoom meetings with a teacher.

Many people in the US are out of work, but others are working more than they want to, and more than they can handle. If you’re one of the latter, I’m asking you to prayerfully consider sharing some of your extra with these children. Compassion workers are working overtime to try to reach all of them but the money is thinning out. Why?

Because sponsors are out of work, or they are ill with the virus or they have died. The burden is large. You can find out more about Compassion and their effort HERE.
