I’m Karen Saari – Christian, editor, and author.  Lifelong reader. Wife, mother, grandmother. Student.

For me, editing is not about marking off a checklist and calling it done. I read your book and then go through it word by word, and line by line. I take into account the overall plot, and sub-plots and the growth (or not) of each character. I look at each sentence to make sure it’s the best it can be. I check dialogue to make sure it’s realistic. Each manuscript can come out with hundreds of suggestions, grammar, and spelling corrections. I also include many positive comments when I find the good and other comments that might suggest a better word or phrase.

My goal is to preserve your author’s voice, and only to shine the work you’ve already done. Your book is something we work on together, as partners.

Writing has been a delightful journey for me and I’ve published four books – one book was traditionally published and I self-published the other three – The Spring Street Quilters Series. I’m currently working on a new book, The Neighbor’s Club.  I’ve also been published in two books written by several authors – each of us had a chapter. You can find links to all my books HERE.

My desire is to not only edit, but encourage you in your journey. To share what I’ve learned, and to help you write your best book.

I’m a General Editor with Iron Stream Media.

I’m a student at Ohio Christian University. I’m on the downhill side of the mountain called BA in English and Creative Writing. Starting college when you’re over 50 isn’t something everyone wants to do, but I had the opportunity and I took it. I’ve never regretted it, except for a few times around the Final Paper due date!

I have seven years of experience and I’m continually studying the craft of writing and editing. I completely enjoy both of them. Playing with words, whether mine or yours, is one of my favorite things to do.

I hope to hear from you,

Karen
